Research

We bring edge systems, machine integration and monitoring software into research projects and carry the results into customer work. As consortium partner, member of the advisory committee or contractor of an institute.

MetaLin-X consortium at the kick-off in Linz
MetaLin-X: consortium kick-off at JKU Linz, February 2026.

Ongoing

MetaLin-X: Dataspace-driven & Sovereign Industrial Metaverse

Since February 2026, funded by the Austrian FFG (BBA2030: GigaApp). Consortium led by eberle.at, operational project management by TU Wien Pilotfabrik; with JKU Linz, TU Wien IFT, TU Graz (smartfactory), Siemens, Posedio and further partners. Our contribution: system and data integration. Edge-based capture of machine-level data (WP 2) and 5G integration (WP 5) for the digital twin.

SAW2Sense: SAW sensors on machine tools

Since May 2026, an IGF project of TUHH (IPMT) with OVGU Magdeburg, funded via FGW. Our contribution: member of the advisory committee. Edge hardware with analogue sensor input and OPC UA, measurement and monitoring software, integration on a Fooke machine.

IGF, Industrial Collective Research German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy
Supported within the programme for promoting Industrial Collective Research (IGF) of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE) on the basis of a decision by the German Bundestag.

ProMo-X: process monitoring on machine tools

Since 2025, a ZIM project between IFW Hannover and UTTec GmbH. Our contribution: supporting work on in-process wear estimation for single parts and prediction of remaining tool life. Results flow into the UTTM tool monitoring system.

Where we come from

Process monitoring on machine tools has accompanied Dr. Jan Brinkhaus since his doctorate at the Institute of Production Engineering and Machine Tools (IFW) at Leibniz University Hannover. In 2009 he founded a company from it and developed the ToolScope monitoring system there; after the acquisition by the KOMET Group he led that subsidiary for many years as managing director. It continues today as Ceratizit Hannover GmbH. In 2019 he founded Brinkhaus GmbH in Isernhagen, which carries today’s work: engineering for machine and component manufacturers, own products, research.
